Tokyo >> Ginza / Tokyo Station
Tokyo Station and the Ginza district are the most popular tourist destinations in Tokyo because they are very convenient for travelling throughout Japan, with numerous train lines, shops, and restaurants. On the west side, there is a popular tourist spot; Imperial Palace, and on the east and south sides, it is a huge entertainment area. When you search for hotels with gyms on a hotel booking website, you may find many, but most of them are so small that only 1 or 2 people can comfortably do exercise. I had many occasions to give up using it because it was already full (with 1 or 2 people! ). So, If you want to make sure of your workout routine, it is better to stay at a hotel nearby a local gym that sells day pass to travelers. There are 4 local gyms selling a day pass (and 3 Anytime Fitness gyms for members) in this area. There are many reasonably priced hotels within walking distance. See my recommendations below the map.

If you are an Anytime Fitness Member in your home country, you can use 1100+ Anytime Fitness gyms in Japan 24/7 for free (your home country’s membership covers the cost). You can use the same security key tag to enter. Often Anytime Fitness gyms in Japan are hard to find as they are located in the back street or on the 2nd floor of big building. In this area, there are 3 gyms in convenient locations as follows (Purple icons on the map).
There are many hotels in this area but new hotels have very small rooms. Among many hotels I have stayed in the 3-4-star hotel category, my recommendation goes to Daiwa Roynet Hotel Ginza (green icon on the map). This 4-star hotel is in a quiet street in busy Ginza area, and it is good value for money compared with other hotels in this area. Conveniently located, you can walk to many train stations, including Ginza, Yurakucho, Ginza-ichome, Hibiya, and Tokyo. You can move around in Tokyo in all directions easily from this hotel. Most importantly, it is only a 5 min walk to Gold’s Gym Ginza Tokyo. Also, there are 3 convenience stores in 1 min walking distance where you can get protein drinks and bars after your workout.
The Royal Park Canvas - Ginza 8 is also a great 4-star hotel option. Located at the end of Ginza area, it is close to a popular entertainment area called Shinbashi where you can find many small bars and restaurants (very popular area for Japanese locals). It is also convenient as you can walk to Ginza station as well as Shinbashi station, from which you can go to most of business and tourist areas in Tokyo. This hotel has a tiny gym room. If you want only cardio exercise, it might be ok. If you want a full workout, you can walk to Gold’s Gym Ginza Center in 10 mins and Anytime Fitness Higashi-Ginza in 5 mins (if you are an Anytime Fitness member). There are also shared washing machines for hotel guests. Convenience store where you can get protein bars and drinks is across the street.
If you want a unique experience at reasonable cost, Henn Na Hotel Tokyo Ginza is a good option. This 3-star hotel means “Strange hotel” in Japanese. This is a fully automated hotel, and you do not see any human staff. Robots welcome you at the reception and cleaning machines are roaming around. Recently they have got the auto-cleaning closet in all rooms (you can watch this video about how it works). There are also shared washing machines. Room is simple and small but practical. It is 7 mins walk to Ginza central area but there is a subway station right in front of this hotel. 2 convenience stores are also available within 1 min walking for protein bars and drinks.
